AD Delivers End-to-End Event for OMNI & SLB MOU Signing Ceremony

Event planning, stage design, and a custom gimmick launch for Malaysia’s first locally produced PDC drill bits — unveiled in one ceremony.

A Ceremony With Real Stakes

On 3 September 2024, OMNI Oil Technologies and SLB (Schlumberger) signed a strategic MOU expanding their collaboration into contract manufacturing of wellheads — building on a supply relationship that spans 43 countries since 2013. At the same ceremony, OMNI unveiled Malaysia’s first locally produced VDP PDC steel body drill bits, recognised under PETRONAS’ Vendor Development Programme.

This wasn’t a routine corporate handshake. It was a milestone for the country’s oil and gas sector. The ceremony needed to match the weight of the moment. AD was brought in to handle everything.

What We Delivered

We managed the full event lifecycle: concept development, event planning, venue coordination, stage design, ceremony flow scripting, and on-site execution. The centrepiece was the product gimmick launching — a custom-designed mechanism that revealed the PDC drill bits to the audience in a way that felt as significant as the engineering breakthrough itself.

Stage design reflected both brands. OMNI’s identity as a home-grown Malaysian innovator, led by Managing Director Nik Mustapha Fathil. SLB’s presence as a global industry giant, represented by East Asia GeoUnit Marketing Manager Amin Said. The visual language honoured both without one overwhelming the other.

PETRONAS Senior Vice President Datuk Ir. Bacho Pilong was present to witness the signing — adding government-level significance to the proceedings.

The Details Behind the Day

On-site management covered VIP arrival coordination, media handling, the signing protocol flow, and the gimmick launch sequence. We ran the entire programme on a timed cue sheet — from the opening remarks through to the photo session. No dead air. No awkward pauses. Just a ceremony that moved with purpose.

For a moment like this, you only get one shot. The MOU gets signed once. The product gets revealed once. AD made sure that once was enough.
